Erling Haaland goes on 'top secret' fishing trip to Cornwall by himself to make most of Man City's early Champions League elimination

Erling Haaland has been making the most of Manchester City's Champions League elimination by going fishing alone in Cornwall.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Per , Haaland was spotted fishing down in Cornwall as he made the most of his free time. City were beaten 6-3 on aggregate by Real Madrid in the knockout round play-offs, and as a result, the Norway international had a rare midweek off.

    To the delight of locals, Haaland was in Newquay on Monday, and managed to land a fish during his trip. One fan, wearing a City shirt, was fortunate enough to land the striker's signature on his replica jersey.

    Kier Tamblin, who saw Haaland, told : "He went on a fishing trip. He seemed to be by himself.

    "He said he caught something but wanted to get out of there quickly before everyone saw him.”

    Dave Trebilcock, a local fisherman, added: "It all came about when I was phoned up random one day by another boat operator to take someone out fishing. They couldn’t take them out as their boat was on the quay.

    "The trip was top secret. Nearer the time I was told the person I was taking out was a superstar so it was all hush hush."

    Haaland will head back to Manchester ahead of City's clash with Brighton on Saturday. They are currently fifth in the Premier League.
